A "special place" dedicated to our love for children.
Variety's Camp Brereton is located at Lot 7, Block 9 at Brereton Lake in the beautiful Whiteshell Park region of Manitoba. Camp Brereton has a capacity of 70 with six camper cabins (cabins vary in size and hold 8 - 12 campers each); three staff cabins (Retreat sleeps 4; Infirmary sleeps 3; Cook's Cabin sleeps 3); Main Lodge, kitchen, dining hall and common area wth fireplace; and a main washroom house with showers and new for 2008, a
large deck with pergola.
2008 marked the 5th anniversary of Variety's Camp Brereton. The past five years have seen many changes and improvements to camp that have developed this "Special Place" into a safe and fun paradise, where kids can truly be one with the great outdoors. Our enhancements are
continuing as more projects are in the planning stages!
Bordered on three sides with glimmering water, Variety's Camp Brereton provides an opportunity for all children of all abilities, the chance to enjoy the great outdoors and the thrill of a great camping experience. Many significant modifications have been made to the site to make it more accessible. The site accommodates visually impaired campers with railing and landscape markers throughout the camp. Cabin #1, complete with shower and washroom facilities, is wheelchair accessible. The main lodge and dining hall and deck are all wheelchair accessible.
The kitchen and dining hall are fully equipped; all you have to bring is your food. There is plenty of storage in the full size deep freeze or in the walk in cooler. Menu planning, food shopping, preparation and serving can all be arranged for you at an additional charge.
The main lodge is a great place for activities such as skits and meetings. With the stunning backdrop of the original fireplace, this cozy room accommodates a group of 70 for just about any activity. The addition
of an 840 square foot deck offers a great space for relaxing or watching
performances by campers under the pergola.
An authentic tee pee, fishing rods and reels, two outdoor fire pit areas, a game and book library, an assortment of costumes for drama, a private swim bay, water toys, canoes and kayaks - your group can use all these items while staying at Variety's Camp Brereton.
There are seven canoes and six kayaks, complete with life jackets, paddles and safety gear for children, youth, and adults. Campers have the option of discovering one of the many islands for a shore lunch, an overnight excursion or simply just exploring Brereton Lake and all its splendor. Launching your canoe will be a breeze on the 500 square foot, state of the art dock, situation in the calm bay on the east side of camp. Complete with railings and a table, the dock is a place you can sit and read, watch the activity in the bay or just take a nap ... all at the waters edge. Additions to our water activities are planned for the 2008-2009 seasons.
The secluded beach is another area of the camp where you are surrounded by the calm beauty of nature. It is effortless to forget the hustle and bustle of the city and loose yourself to this special place. The night sky exposes the bright shimmering planets and stars. Travis Price Point with the naked eye, you are engulfed in the heavens with breath taking sunsets and spectacular northern lights. Look through our "Variety Hubble" telescope and you can almost reach out and touch the stars.
Rental of Variety's Camp Brereton includes the entire facility, thus giving you the freedom to plan your own programs and schedules.
